Douglas Laing’s Remarkable Regional Malts offer the ultimate distillation of Scotland’s Malt Whisky regions, with each bottle embodying the overarching characteristics of the region it is sourced from, and today we have something very special from Big Peat.
Big Peat is a marriage of Malts only from the Scotch Whisky island of Islay. A sooty, ashy, medicinal and earthy dram, “he” has traditionally been a marriage of Single Malts from Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Port Ellen Distilleries since he launched in 2009.
However, for Christmas 2016, Big Peat’s creators have released a one-off Limited Edition vatting that includes all active distilleries on Islay, plus the signature, elusive and exclusive splash of Port Ellen. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.6%, the new Christmas release is proudly without colouring or chill-filtration, in line with the Douglas Laing family philosophy to bottle “as natural as it gets”.
