TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Mellow butterscotch immediately, with soft vanilla and a gentle citrus lift underneath. Clean and unhurried. Ex-bourbon doing exactly what 15 years of good wood should do.
PALATE
Rich and silky. Boozy butter up front, then butterscotch, then gentle citrus that cuts through the sweetness just enough to keep everything moving. Sweet oak arrives quietly at the back and ties it all together. Remarkably drinkable for something bottled at 48.2%.
FINISH
Long and warm. Vanilla and sweet oak linger. The citrus note drops away last. Longer than you’d expect. Cleaner than most.

WHY THIS CASK
Girvan is one of Scotland’s largest grain distilleries. Almost everything it produces disappears into William Grant’s blended range. It almost never surfaces as a named single cask. This one did. The 15 Year Old went into ex-bourbon and stayed there. No finishing, no intervention. Just the distillate and the wood for fifteen years. That restraint is the decision. The result is a whisky the Luxury Spirits Masters gave their highest award to. We chose the cask before the judges had a say. We’re glad they caught up.

YOUR FIRST POUR

Neat in a Glencairn. Give it five minutes. The butterscotch and citrus need a little air before they show themselves properly.

A small drop of water on the second pour softens the oak and brings the citrus forward. Try both. The difference is worth the experiment.
