Nc’nean is known for pushing the boundaries of conventional Scotch, and for its incredible sustainability credentials including its recent net zero verification. This new series is all about the people who make Nc’nean what it is. A small team of eco-conscious drinks fanatics on a mission to create innovative and sustainable spirits. 

Testament to the individual attributes and pioneering spirit of Nc’nean’s 14 strong team, each release will reflect the journey of its namesake, with personal stories hidden within the packaging. The whisky itself, chosen by that individual, will reflect their favourite flavours – whether these are brought about by the latest cask experiments or the distillery’s yeast trials.

‘Annabel’ is the debut expression in the series, representing Nc’nean’s founder and queen of spirits, Annabel Thomas. Annabel’s mission has always been to do things differently – building a whisky distillery that pushes the boundaries and puts the planet first.

In a limited release of just 4,504 bottles, ‘Annabel’ is aged in a combination of ex-Tokaji barrels, which add a wonderful sweetness and velvety texture to the whisky and ex-bourbon barrels – another of Annabel’s favourites which produce flavours of coconut, toasted vanilla and tropical fruits.

Annabel comments: ‘I am so excited to bring our first seasonal release and a new series of whisky into the world. The Quiet Rebels series celebrates the team that make Nc’nean what it is! A group of passionate, skilled and adventurous people who are the driving force behind our mission to pioneer sustainable production and do things differently. 

The best part was obviously picking the casks for this release. I’ve had my eye on the Tokaji barrels for a while as their sweeter side appealed to me. But I also love our spirit in ex-bourbon casks and I wanted to create something that let them shine through.  It’s my turn to go first with this release but I can’t wait to see what the rest of our amazing team come up with in years to come!’

The Quiet Rebels Annabel seasonal release will be available from the 23rd of October in the UK (on ncnean.com and through select retailers) and on various dates via Nc’nean’s distributors in Germany, France, Netherlands, Italy and Belgium.  Nc’nean plan to release subsequent expressions in the Quiet Rebel’s series each autumn.
