Bushmills 32 Year Old Port Cask Finished The Causeway Collection Single Malt Irish Whiskey

let’s begin

The second installment of Bushmills Distillery’s Causeway Collection includes a stunning 32 year old Port cask finished Single Malt.

Natural Inspiration

Not far from the Bushmills Distillery you will find one of Ireland’s greatest landmarks, the Giant’s Causeway. Legend has it that the basalt columns were created by giant Finn MacCool as a bridge to Scotland, which is a much more interesting story than how they actually formed.

The Causeway Collection, originally released last year, is a series of 12 malts that each represent something new for Bushmills in terms of maturation. The range varies in ages from 9-32, with the 32 year old being one of the oldest malts that the distillery has ever released.

Colum Egan, who is Master Distiller at Bushmills, said, “All the whiskeys used in The Causeway Collection have been expertly created and cared for by craftsmen steeped in a unique whiskey-making tradition passed from generation to generation for more than 400 years here at The Old Bushmills Distillery.

“The Causeway Collection celebrates our extremely rare and unique cask finishes, our passion for single malts and honours our rich heritage. It’s a privilege to work with such rare liquid, these special cask-finished whiskeys really are our greatest treasures.

“We were delighted with how the Bushmills Causeway Collection was received globally in 2020, with some even selling out in minutes – and we can’t wait to share this year’s Collection with the world.”

Tasting notes for Bushmills 32 Year Old Port Cask Finished The Causeway Collection Single Malt Irish Whiskey

Matured in port casks and aged for an incredible 32 years, this is a smooth and elegant Bushmills Single Malt.

The nose begins with notes of sweet nuts, aromatic herbs and lots of summer fruits. It is sweet but refined, with a lovely depth and darkness to it.

The palate is full of citrus fruits, orchard notes and oak wood. The Port flavours come through as warming spices and dried fruits, with summer berries and delicate herbs as well. Oak wood, vanilla and caramel add a lovely sweetness overall.

The finish is bold and full of oak wood, floral notes and cinnamon.

Bushmills have created a wonderful malt, aged to perfection and an excellent addition to Bushmills family. The Causeway Collection is certainly shaping up to be an impressive series.
