let’s begin

World Whisky Day 2021: Saturday 15th May 2021

Well if our your lockdown has been anything like ours, everyday has felt like world whisky day! However this Saturday marks the official celebration.

What is World Whisky Day?

World Whisky Day invites everyone to try a dram and celebrate the water of life. Taking place annually on the third Saturday in May, this special occasion is celebrated by whisky lovers worldwide with tastings, events and gatherings. World Whisky Day is about making whisky fun for all, not about being exclusive or prescriptive. All you need to participate is a bottle of whisky/whiskey – whatever variety, however you enjoy it.

So in preparation we thought we’d share the drams we’ll be raising to celebrate:

Chosen from our own range this whisky has been matured for its whole maturation term in a Pedro Ximenez cask (known as PX in the industry) which has given it a stunning meaty flavour profile full of rich fruit and a pang of sweetness too owing to its time in the PX cask.

Alfred Giraud has blended together three French malts for the Heritage expression. The spirit is then aged in three different cask types, with new French Limousin oak, American oak and casks which previously held XO Cognac.

What a stunner! Fresh yet buttery, with a delicate spiced finish not just a beautiful dram to drink but the bottle is pretty special too.

Is there a celebration without an Irish Whisky? This Caskmates Stout Edition is a triple distilled Irish whiskey finished in craft stout-seasoned barrels. The result features the smoothness of Jameson alongside notes of chocolate, coffee and butterscotch. Oh to be back at Jameson enjoying this dram! Soon…

Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky is the first whisky ever distilled in the Cotswolds.  Using 100% locally grown, floor-malted barley and matured in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels and reconditioned red wine casks. This is so easy drinking! Warming spice notes with a fruity, orange finish. The official tasting notes say ‘caramelised Seville orange marmalade’ and I couldn’t agree more!
