Berry Bros.& Rudd announces the launch of The Nordic Casks #1

let’s begin

23rd August 2021. Berry Bros & Rudd have announced the launch of The Nordic Casks, the first time an independent bottler has focused on this progressive and exciting whisky region. Selected by Berry Bros. & Rudd Reserve Spirits Manager, Jonny McMillan, the range showcases different raw materials, production methods and innovation from pioneering Nordic whisky distillers.

The first Nordic Casks collection consists of four single casks from Myken – Norway, High Coast – Sweden, Kyrö – Finland and Fary Lochan– Denmark. For whisky fans, this will be the first opportunity to buy an independent bottling from several of these unique distilleries. They will be available to buy from 2nd September 2021 in the UK from BBR Retail, Royal Mile Whiskies and other selected retailers.

To support the launch, Berry Bros. & Rudd have partnered with the Nordic distilleries to bring a virtual tasting streamed live on @berrybrosruddspirits Facebook and Youtube on the 2nd September at 7pm (BST). For this event, there will be limited-edition tasting packs to give consumers the chance to taste the whiskies before purchasing a bottle. In the UK these are available from bbr.com (£35) and Royal Mile Whiskies. (£35).

The event will be co-hosted by Jonny McMillan from Berry Bros. & Rudd, Thomas Øhrbomfrom Whisky Saga and Emma Anderson from Allt om Whisky Magazine Sweden, and will feature a guest from each Nordic distillery; Myken, High Coast, Kyrö and Fary Lochan.

Berry Bros & Rudd, a 323 years old spirits company, once again showcases an eye to forecast the world’s best liquids. The Nordics is seen as one of the most innovative and exciting regions for Whisky production, yet it remains untapped, with limited production proving to be highly popular.

Jonny McMillan, Assistant Reserve Spirits Manager at Berry Bros. & Rudd:

“The Nordics is one such region that has intrigued me and, although young it is already developing its own identity and character. The people of this rugged and majestic landscape, not dissimilar to Scotland, have long been known for their love of great whiskies. They are now drawing inspiration for their own production both from the robust drams of Scotland and from the precise and chiselled Japanese style – while injecting their own influence throughout.

Of all the emerging global whisky regions, the Nordics has so far perhaps had the least acclaim, but with distillers of such quality and passion it’s unlikely to remain that way for long.”

Tasting kits are available in the UK at Berry Bros. & Rudd £35 and Royal Mile Whiskies at £35 – shorturl.at/ghimA
