The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky

let’s begin

One of the most respected whisky brands in the world is introducing new expressions that explore a range of flavour profiles.

The Legendary Glenlivet

The Glenlivet is a high quality Scotch. Having been around since the early 1800s, the company has mastered the craft and are one of the best selling luxury Scotch brands around.

They started off as most Scotch whisky producers did; as smugglers with an illicit still, hidden in the Livet Valley. This wasn’t uncommon in the 1800s but with the introduction of new licensing laws in 1823, it started to make more sense to go legitimate.

And that’s what the founders of The Glenlivet did. They were the first distillery to be granted a license to distil and since then have thrived.

The brand has come a long way from their days of hiding stills. These days they are a market leader and create excellent malts. They have recently released some really interesting malts that are not that commonly produced, exploring new maturation processes and cask finishing.

Their latest, Caribbean Rum Reserve, is an exciting release from the distillery. It joins their Nadurra Reserve range, which includes malt matured in Nadurra Oloroso Sherry casks and introduces a peated malt to their collection.

Tasting Notes for The Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky

The nose begins with wonderful notes of spice and sugar. It is warming with a lovely thick caramel and treacle note. Fruity notes of banana, pineapple and peaches also comes through, giving it a lovely sweet edge.

The palate is rich. Sugar cane, candy floss and sherried cinnamon come through. Tropical fruits play a big part here, giving it an excellent full flavoured body. The mouth feel is smooth, bringing in more caramel and vanilla notes.

The finish is long an lingers on sweet brown sugar with hints of spice.

Yet again The Glenlivet have released a dram of unbelievable standards. The sweetness of the Rum ties perfectly with the malt. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
