let’s begin
Most people might crack open a window on their advent calendar to reveal chocolate, but we think a far better way to start they is with a 30ml shot of whisky. Ok don’t actually drink the shot in the morning, but do enjoy it when you aren’t about to drop your kids off or go to work (despite how much it might feel like you need a whisky at those times).
Here’s our pick for best whisky advent calendars this year.
The Really Good Whisky Calendar
What’s in it: 24 whiskies in 30ml bottles
Price: £125
This calendar is the first from the Really Good Whisky Company and they have some exciting drams on the inside. The calendar is a range of malts from Scotland, America and Japan. They also include big names like Hudson, Glenfarclas, Bruichladdich, Bowmore and Glenmoranige, alongside smaller names like Chita, Sheepdip and Tandhu. This is a nice collection of various malts from lots of interesting places. You will definitely get a great surprise opening this one.
The Master of Malt Single Cask Whisky Advent Calendar
What’s in it: 24 whiskies from 23 distilleries.
Price: £199.95
A bit pricier than the Really Good Whisky Calendar but with the range of whiskies here, it is worth it. It includes Irish, American and Scottish malts with a range of well-known distilleries and smaller ones as well. We are particularly excited by the Heaven Hill 8 Year Old, Staoisha 5 Year Old and the Dalmore 14 Year Old. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this calendar is the fact that they are all from single casks, so you’re really getting a glimpse a something special.
The Whisky Classic Advent Calendar
What’s in it: 24 whiskies from 24 distilleries and a 56 page tasting booklet
Price: Unknown
This the whisky calendar for Scotch lovers. It is exclusively made up of malt from Scottish distilleries. Again, like with the previous calendars, there is a mix of big and small producers. These include Highland Park, Glenrothes, Oban, Wolfburn Talisker and Tomatin. With this calendar we suggest you could save them up and have the ultimate in At-Home-Tasting sessions. A true exploration of Scotch.
