Medallion Program gives consumers first look at upcoming Courage & Conviction package design
As Virginia Distillery Company prepares to release its Flagship offering of ultra-premium American Single Malt, Courage & Conviction, in the spring of 2020, the distillery is giving consumers an opportunity to pre-purchase limited edition bottles now for delivery in 2021.
Medallion members qualify to receive the Medallion Edition, a special reserve batch that won’t be available elsewhere. The batch is a barrel selection from the Flagship offering of Courage & Conviction, complete with a unique, collectable medallion that changes from batch-to-batch.
Beginning Oct. 16, consumers can purchase memberships which guarantee how many of the 2021 Medallion Edition bottles they will receive plus access to special member events and other perks. Three price levels are offered, and pricing is dictated by how many bottles the member would like to receive. The purchasing range starts at $70 for one bottle and ends at $60 per bottle for members wanting six or more bottles. Purchasing now ensures the best pricing ahead of the full release in 2021.
“The Medallion Program was inspired by the rise of asset-backed cryptocurrencies,” said Angela Moore, owner of Virginia Distillery Company. “We see this as a unique opportunity, not only for whisky lovers to get in on the ground floor of an amazing new brand, but also for them to invest in an asset-backed program.”
After enrolling in the program, in a few months’ time, members will receive a medallion as a memento in anticipation of their Medallion Edition bottles. As well as being a keepsake and offering the distillery’s standard seal of approval, the medallion on this edition serves as a nod to the idea of cryptocurrencies.
Virginia Distillery Company worked with Trinity Brand Group to develop the brand strategy, visual identity, a bespoke bottle structure, and packaging design for the Medallion Program along with the upcoming Courage & Conviction full range of offerings. Trinity is an award-winning leader in the category partnering with other ultra-premium and luxury spirit brands such as Casa Noble Tequila and Powerscourt Distillery.

The Medallion Program is the first offering from Virginia Distillery Company connected to Courage & Conviction, the distillery’s ultra-premium American Single Malt whisky. The name is in honor of founder Dr. George G. Moore’s most often-repeated phrase, which was to “always have the courage of your convictions”. The casks have been resting since November 2015 and the Flagship product will be released in the Spring of 2020.
The Flagship offering of Courage & Conviction is made from 100 percent malted barley and aged in former Bourbon, Sherry and Cuv饠wine casks.
The bottles in the Medallion Edition program will be aged a minimum of three years and will be a barrel selection from the regular Flagship offering.
