Whiskies for Mother’s Day

let’s begin

Every mum deserves a dram of the finest quality, and with Mother's Day fast approaching, we've got the perfect malt for every whisky loving mum out there.

Bottle cost: £45

Comprised of just three component whiskies, this Blended Scotch Whisky brings together three different cask maturations from three different distilleries. Whether enjoyed neat or with soda, this whisky is wise beyond its years in terms of depth of flavour owing to the use of a first fill Ruby Port Wine barrique in the recipe.

2. Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon Whiskey

Bottle cost: £31.95

If you’re looking for an excellent American whiskey for less than £35 – we would suggest Wild Turkey 101. Wild Turkey know their craft well and this is the perfect example of that. The 101 Bourbon is a simple yet elegant spirit. Ideal for those mothers who enjoy some sweetness and spice in their whiskey.

3. Method and Madness Hungarian Oak

Bottle cost: £80.95

This is the dram to get for the mother who is a bit quizzical about the world. Hungarian oak isn’t a commonly used maturation cask, but at Method and Madness they do not shy away from the unknown. It is wonderfully smooth and sweet, with big fruit notes as well. We highly recommend if you want to get your whisky loving mum something off the beaten track.

4. Glenlivet Founder's Reserve

Bottle cost: £33.95

But maybe your mum is into something with a more classic Scotch taste and all the elegance that goes with it? Then The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve is perfect. The Glenlivet are one of the best Scotch producers in the world and the Founder’s Reserve is a classic Speyside Scotch. The palate is spicy and sweet, with lots of sherry notes.

5. Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old

Bottle cost: £36.45

Why buy your mother flowers, when you can get her something floral, that will last for much longer? (Depending on exactly how much she enjoys a glass of whisky, that is). The Dalwhinnie 15 Year Old is full of delicate, floral notes, with lots of fruit and a hint of smoke. Don’t waste your money on something that will die in a week, get her Dalwhinnie instead

6. Ardbeg Uigeadail

Bottle cost: £44.13

In at the deep end with this one! Ardbeg are well known for their peated malts and if your mum likes a smoky malt, then look no further than them. Uigeadail is one of their more pungent releases and it is packed with flavour. The levels of complexity here are incredible and were once described by Jim Murray himself as “on a level only a handful of distilleries in the world can even dream of reaching.”
