THE DALMORE ANNOUNCES “ONCE IN A LIFETIME” CELEBRATION OF THE DECADES

let’s begin

The Dalmore releases The Decades collections, commemorating the last 60 spectacular years of the Highland Single Malt.

The Dalmore Highland Single Malt is releasing a series of exceptional single malt whiskies celebrating the whisky maker’s relentless pursuit of excellence. The Dalmore Decades will showcase the last 60 years, drawing on the distillery’s vast inventory to create three remarkable collections.

The pinnacle of the series is The Dalmore Decades No. 6 Collection: a truly unique, one-of-a-kind set of six single malts from six decades to be sold by global auction, facilitated by Sotheby’s Hong Kong in October 2021, featuring whiskies from 1951, 1967, 1979, 1980, 1995 and 2000. Each whisky is the personal selection of Master Distiller Mr Richard Paterson OBE.

In addition, 15 sets of the No. 5 Collection will be available globally, featuring five whiskies from 1967 onwards (RSP: £200,000), whilst 25 sets of The Dalmore Decades No. 4 Collection – profiling four whiskies from 1979 – are set to go on sale with an RSP of £100,000 per set.

The whiskies in these three once-in-a-lifetime collections have been hand selected by Master Distiller Richard Paterson OBE, who joined The Dalmore in 1970, to showcase the passion, dedication and expertise which have been the hallmark of The Dalmore for over 180 years.

Richard Paterson explains: “The Dalmore Decades is a unique moment for us to celebrate our history and the key moments which have marked the last six decades.

“Each bottle tells a distinctive part of The Dalmore’s story: from the 1951, the last whisky created during the Mackenzie era, the family which owned the distillery for over a century and whose heritage allows us to display the 12-point Royal stag on every bottle, through to the first Scotch whisky created in the new millennium.

“These collections are a true tribute to craftsmanship forged over the decades and offer a fantastic opportunity for collectors in search of a rare, never-to-be-seen-again piece of history.”

The No. 6 Collection is Richard’s personal selection from the historic distillery and the exceptionally rare casks of which he has been custodian for over 50 years. The series will be presented in The Dalmore’s iconic bottle design, with bespoke silver collar and Glencairn crystal decanter.

The Dalmore Distillery has recently announced a landmark partnership with V&A Dundee, the home of the renowned art and design museum in Scotland. A substantial donation from the sale of The Dalmore Decades No. 6 Collection will be donated to V&A Dundee.

Every set of the No. 5 and No. 4 Collections will be engraved with an exclusive number, presenting a compelling opportunity for established and new collectors alike. Each bottle of the No. 5 Collection will feature a different colour stopper, as well as including a bespoke pedestal to display this masterpiece of a collection, while the No. 4 Collection can be displayed in one plinth, complete with individual compartments to house each decanter.

Gerry Tosh, Rare Whisky Director at The Dalmore, comments: “The Dalmore is known for creating superior whiskies, many of which are considered attractive for investment – and the Decades collections are no exception. The Dalmore Decades collections presents a fantastic opportunity for any whisky lover, as well as a chance to own a truly historic masterpiece.”

The Dalmore Decades No. 6 Collection will be sold by global auction via Sotheby’s Hong Kong from October. The No.5 Collection set will be sold exclusively through luxury retailers including Harrods (UK), Wally’s Wine & Spirits (US), Le Bon Marché (FR), and CDFG Hainan with an RSP of £200,000, and in the prestigious Travel Retail Channel – China Duty Free Group  (Hainan), Ever Rich Duty Free (Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport), DutyZero (Hong Kong International Airport), Lotte (Changi Airport and Incheon International Airport) and DFS Macau during the famous Master of Wine and Spirit showcase. The No. 4 Collections will be available exclusively through retailers including Selfridges (UK), Annabel’s (UK), La Grande Épicerie (FR) and to view at Fairmont Pacific Rim Vancouver (CA) and Waldorf Astoria (NL) with an RSP of £100,000.
