Glenfiddich collaborates with artist David Aiu Servan-Schreiber to reimagine Grande Couronne 26 Year Old’s luxury design, paying homage to the earth’s beauty

let’s begin

The artist’s limited-edition artwork will adorn the packaging of Grande Couronne 26 Year Old, an opulent whisky finished in rare French Cognac casks, exclusively available in Selfridges from June

10th June, 2021: Collaborating with contemporary artist David Aiu Servan-Schreiber, Glenfiddich has unveiled a limited-edition sleeve for its opulent expression Glenfiddich Grande Couronne 26 Year Old. The ultimate crowning gift of luxury from the World’s Most Awarded Single Malt Whisky will showcase the bespoke design for the new liquid exclusively at Selfridges from June.

Reflecting the unexpected marriage of two luxury worlds – a blend of Scottish heritage in the whisky making and French opulence in the extended finishing – French-born, London-based artist David showcases the magnificence of the earth through the striking design. Featuring emblematic crackles symbolising the smoked wood grains of the meticulously sourced finishing casks during the whisky maturation process, the artwork is a natural juxtaposition of the regal filigree which adorns the Grande Couronne bottle.

In addition to the limited-edition sleeve, David has re-created the design for a full window takeover at Selfridges London between 10th-23rd June, presenting the David Aiu Servan-Schreiber bottle and the launch of Glenfiddich Grande Couronne 26 Year Old at the leading department store.

Speaking on the collaboration, David commented: “My art is inspired by the natural world and the opposing forces that impact how we interact with it. We see juxtapositions such as this in all areas of life – when we reimagine the old with the new; or find imperfections in seemingly perfect things. This interpretation of the brilliant filigree is raw, unpredictable and emotive. It transforms it into a living thing, one that echoes its origins but harnesses its true power to explore new territories.”

A true taste of elegance, Glenfiddich’s Grande Couronne offers vibrant and lively notes with an abundance of toasty oak sweetness reminiscent of a French patisserie. Whilst on the palate, a deep, velvety smooth and indulgently sweet taste blends meticulously with café crème, soft brown sugar and a hint of spice, creating a very long-lasting sweet oak finish.

The Grande Couronne bottle is adorned with gold filigree, while exquisite artwork evocative of great renaissance paintings are revealed inside the box, blending two art forms. Finally, elevating the exquisite bottle even further, David’s sleeve highlights the importance of protecting the environment and social consciousness.

Maria Ropero-Ortiz, Senior Brand Manager for Glenfiddich, added: “We’re thrilled to announce Glenfiddich’s collaboration with David, such an extraordinary artist who has reimagined the celebration of our latest release. David’s work truly represents the opulence of Grande Couronne through the lens of nature in a majestic and elegant way, and it’s so rewarding to see Glenfiddich building on its art legacy through an issue which is close of all of our hearts, protecting and celebrating our staggering planet.”

The limited-edition Glenfiddich Grande Couronne X David Aiu Servan-Schreiber release is available from Selfridges from 10th June for £475 (70cl). Grande Couronne is the third instalment to Glenfiddich’s Grand Series.
