let’s begin
Our monthly round-up of all the hottest restaurants, bars, pop-ups and all round delicious eats.
Ahhh, the great British Summer Time – hi there! So good to see you!
We’ve been busy bee’s, working our way around the best festivals – Glastonbury we’re looking at you – but also those a little closer to home with Field Day, Citadel, and House Fest all being superb this year! We love a good Buddha bowl whilst listening to the legend that is Craig David. But don’t worry, it’s not all over yet! If you want to get in on the festi action, we’re looking ahead to On Blackheath which is taking place this September and has a stellar line up of music and food.
The past few weeks has seen everyone going crazy for Stoke Newington, with hot new openings springing up left, right and centre. Andi Oliver’s beautiful new spot gets a big thumbs up from us with breakfast booze and baked eggs – what’s not to love? Just down the road you’ll find the Lacy Nook dishing up Insta-gold baklava ice cream sandwiches and both have sun traps out back. Hurrah!
Of course there are summer menus galore but HKK impressed us with their contemporary Chinese tasting menu which can be paired with either wine or the most impressive mocktails we’ve ever tried! Speaking of cocktails, our favourite bartender in the world, Mr Lyan has opened up SUPER LYAN. It’s a reincarnation of the infamous White Lyan but doesn’t take itself quite so seriously. Machiya is also getting in on the cocktail action, opening a basement bar serving drinks with Japanese flourishes such as yuzu foam and tea infusions, as well an extensive Japanese whisky menu.
Another foodie hub that’s emerging is Broadgate Circle. Just minutes from Liverpool Street, this little area is now home to shipping containers housing Wolf II (GREAT pasta!), Island Poke, and CLAW (the brioche lobster rolls are next level!) Defo one to watch.
We’ve also been busy further afield, visiting foodie favourite Peru! We had the absolute great pleasure of checking out Maidoand Central which both feature highly in the World’s 50 Best list. If you are planning a trip we have the full low down to get the most out of this amazing country.
Aside from Peru, we have two favourite restaurants from the past few weeks. First, Stevie Parle’s Palatino where we got very drunk and ordered pasta for dessert (it was SO good) and secondly, Smoke & Salt’s first permanent restaurant in Pop Brixton, which follows on from their hugely successful pop ups. We couldn’t be happier for the lovely team.
Like the sound of these restaurants? Why not download new foodie app Nome where you can create lists, steal mine and rate where you’ve been! Check it out, we love it!
