Cocktail cans are becoming ever more popular and Smokehead have joined the market with two new releases of Single Malt Islay Scotch, one mixed with Lime and Ginger and one with Cola.

We all know the best things come in small packages and with cocktails in cans that is certainly true. Every supermarket has their own versions and now big name brands are getting in on the act.

Pre-made cocktail make drinking at home a fun and easy thing to do. In the era when mixology is accessible to all, homemade cocktails are never more popular and with pre-made cocktails and canned cocktails, you can enjoy high quality drinks from the comfort of your own home.

Smokehead, a brand of Islay malts owned by Ian Macloed, are the latest to join the trend with their Smokehead Single Malt Islay Scotch Whisky cocktails. Two options were release, a Lime and Ginger and a Cola.

Brand director of Smokehead, Iain Weir, said “There is a long-standing debate whether a single malt should be mixed. But Smokehead is an unapologetically bold smoky whisky that is made to be enjoyed however you want it!

“Smokehead refuses to follow the rules of conventional whisky drinking. With BBQ season in full swing, what better time to launch the first ever pre-mixed single malt Scotch whisky in a can.”

Controversial? Or just perfect?

While some whisky purists out there might cringe at the thought of mixing good Islay malt with an inferior substance such as cola, as Weir hints at, there is no reason not to enjoy the combination that Smokehead have created. The excellent seaside, smoke filled malt is mixed with the best quality ingredients.

The Lime and Ginger is wonderfully flavoursome and really adds another dimension to the malt. It is zesty and lively and the perfect combination to complement the complexity of the malt.

Likewise, the Single Malt and Cola is just sublime. The cola is slightly spicy and has its own complexities to go with the single malt islay scotch.

We already know the Smokehead malt is going to be high quality, and if your preferred way to enjoy it is with Lime and Ginger or Cola, then why not!
