let’s begin
An exciting expression joining the Lagavulin family, named after actor Nick Offerman and finished in Guinness Casks.
The Best Known Whisky in TV
Lagavulin has been around for centuries (two at least) but became a household brand when it was featured as Ron Swanson’s favourite whisky on the TV show Parks and Recreation. Ron, played by actor Nick Offerman, even made a pilgrimage to the distillery in one of the episodes.
From this, a beautiful partnership was born. Offerman took part in an advertising campaign in 2014 and the first Offerman Edition Single Malt was released in 2019. This latest edition, released in May of this year, is a celebration of Father’s Day and has been finished for four months in Guinness casks.
Nick had this to say about the release, “The opportunity to collaborate on this truly sublime, smoky giggle-juice renews my gratitude for the simple things in life, like a father’s love, and the good manners he taught me.”
Tasting notes for Lagavulin 11 Year Old Offerman Edition Guinness Cask Finished Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
A glorious 11 year old Lagavulin Single Malt that has been finished for four months in Guinness casks.
The nose opens with a lovely warming aroma of peat smoke and gentle seaside notes. There is a subtle earthiness and depth, with a lovely sweet caramel to complement it.
The palate is rich and the flavour of the Guinness really comes through. It has a wonderful dark side as well, with hints of coffee, dark chocolate and mahogany wood. Caramel and toffee give it lovely sweetness. The peat smoke wafts throughout and helps bring out the earthy qualities of the Guinness.
The finish lingers on peat smoke and charred wood, with hints of caramel.
Lagavulin Offerman Edition Guinness Finished Single Malt is an excellent way to celebrate the partnership the distillery has with Nick and an even better celebration for Father’s Day.
