Aged for 39 years, The Wall Rope Edition is a rare whisky shaped by the journey of sherry casks to Islay via the puffer boats that once supplied the island with essential materials from coal to barley.

At its heart, this whisky celebrates the vital relationship between land and sea. The influence of the coast – so intrinsic to Laphroaig’s DNA – fills this whisky with energy and character. Matured in Oloroso sherry seasoned European oak hogsheads and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry seasoned European oak butts, this expression is a mix of bold peat smoke, maritime salinity, and rich sherry sweetness.

Rich tawny in colour, the whisky brings aromas of toffee, cranberry, dark red cherry, polished leather, sweet molasses, and mandarin orange. The taste reveals a gentle smokiness woven with treacle toffee, candied orange peel, and hazelnut. The finish is long, smooth, and warming, leaving lasting impressions of smoked orange toffee, oak, and mixed spice.

The Wall Rope Edition is a collector’s piece both in spirit and design. Each bottle is hand-painted, numbered, and signed by acclaimed London-based illustrator and ceramicist Laura Carlin, whose work draws inspiration from Islay’s rugged shoreline and the tarred rope that secured the vital cargo. Using the exact paint that adorns the lettering on Laphroaig’s iconic Warehouse No.1, Laura captures the symbolic journey and enduring legacy of Laphroaig’s sherry casks.
