Glengoyne 17 Year Old Single Malt bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company

let’s begin

Innovation meets innovation when That Boutique-y Whisky Company decided to bottle at 17 Year Old Glengoyne single malt.

The future of bottling

That Boutique-y Whisky Company are an independent bottler that are reaching a new audience with their malts. They like to do things a bit differently and sidestep tradition. If anything, this is best epitomised by their labels, which feature humourous, quirky comic book-esque images.

They speak to a younger audience with these and are bringing them exclusive and exciting malts that you might not always find bottled by other brands. They cover a multitude of malts, including the very young and the very old.

This Glengoyne 17 Year Old sits nicely in the middle. Glengoyne themselves are no strangers to doing things differently. They pride themselves on holding fast to their own way of doing things, no matter how strange they might be to others. They only ever air dry their grains and they have the slowest stills in Scotland, which they are very pleased with.

This bottling represents both of these brands doing what they do well, and the resulting single malt is excellent. The skills at That Boutique-y Whisky Company mean that the brilliance of this Glengoyne 17 Year Old can be enjoyed.

Bottle cost: £145.79

This malt has been matured for 17 years and is a shining example of malt from Glengoyne.

It begins with a nose full of sherry spice and creamy butterscotch. The sweetness is smooth and mellow but with lots of depth. A fruitier note appears and brings in more spice and wooded tones. Mahogany and oak come out, making it a really complex flavour profile. Apples and pears add a nice crisp end.

The palate is bursting with fruit notes. Citrus, apples, apricots, raisins, dates, figs; you name it, and it’s probably in there. They are cheay and textured on the mouth feel, really enhancing the drinking experience. Malted grains with hints of nuts and victoria sponge also come through.

The finish is bold and exciting, brimming with oak wood and caramel.

This Glengoyne 17 Year Old is a fantastic malt and an exciting addition to the That Boutique-y Whisky Company portfolio.
