We made this one for a specific occasion but it didn’t end up as an occasion whisky. It ended up as a genuinely good dram that happens to be perfect for giving to the person who deserves a proper bottle this Father’s Day.
THE DOSSIER
TASTING NOTES
Warm and immediately welcoming. Ripe stone fruit leads, followed by soft vanilla and a gentle honeyed malt that makes it clear from the first sniff that this is going to be easy to drink, there’s a whisper of citrus peel at the edges, keeping things bright.
More body than the nose suggests. The fruit continues, now joined by buttery vanilla and a gentle warmth of baking spice that builds slowly without heat or aggression. The malt backbone is present and honest.
Clean, warm and honest. The fruit fades first, a gentle spice follows, and then a quiet warmth that lingers just long enough to make you want another glass. Nothing overstays its welcome. This is a finish designed for conversation, not contemplation.

WHY THIS DRAM
Father’s Day whisky gifts tend to fall into two categories: something generic bought in a rush or something so obscure it requires a 10 minute explanation before it can be opened. We wanted to make a third thing, a genuinely good, approachable, carefully made blended Scotch that any whisky drinker would be happy to receive and that any curious non-whisky-drinker might be converted by. The occasion is Father’s Day, the standard is exactly the same as everything else we produce.
THE BLEND, HONESTLY
Blended Scotch is the most consumed whisky in the world and also the most underestimated. Making a blend that is smooth enough for newcomers and interesting enough for enthusiasts is harder than it looks. Greg has judged at the World Spirits Competition, the IWSC, and the London Spirits Competition. Blending is one of the things we love to do most at GreatDrams.

Neat first, always, pour it 10 minutes before you intend to drink it and let the fruit open up, you’ll get more from it than going straight in

Over ice is excellent, the fruit-forward character holds up well to a little dilution and the warmth persists through the chill

Highball: 50ml over ice, top with good ginger ale, squeeze of lemon, the kind of drink you make in 60 seconds and remember for longer
