Christmas... whisky... advent calendars... yes. Drinks By the Dram's boozy advent calendar options for 2016 have landed and you still have time to get them ahead of December first!

I’ve always been a fan of advent calendars; growing up my mum would make one for me each year with superb chocolates that I absolutely loved, and more recently my awesome wife Kirsty actually marked up a bottle of Jameson with 24 dram ‘notches’ for me to enjoy a dram a day up until Christmas. But Drinks by the Dram have once again played a blinder with their boozy advent calendar, this time with many many more options than previous releases in the last half decade.

“What is a boozy advent calendar?” I hear you ask, and I’m glad you did.

They are like your normal advent calendars, but with 24 x 30ml measures of whisky, or gin or rum if you like, but mostly whisky that you open each day for you to enjoy a dram a day through December until Santa hopefully brings you a full bottle of something lovely.

There are many option this year, and within each there are a healthy mix of solid, classic whiskies and unobtainable ‘super premium’ whiskies that will both surprise and delight each and every one of you.

What you’ll notice from the list of options you have below is that there is one available for a cool £10k – this one includes some epic whiskies, maybe even a Port Ellen release, but it does come with a 60 Year Old whisky, and one from a bottle worth £19,000, so if you, or better still your loved one has deep pockets then it may be worth gently suggesting this is what you want this Christmas.

Drinks by the Dram were very kind and sent me a boozy advent calendar full of 24 independently bottled gems from That Boutique-y Whisky Company, here’s how they describe it:

Now you can count down to Christmas with 24 different 3cl drams of whisky which has been independently bottled by the Boutique-y bunch, including single malts and grains, as well as their incredible blends and blended malts. It’s even got a box with more references to their graphic novel-style labels than you can shake a stick at!

And I must say it is superb; I have not opened all of the boxes just yet, just a couple for review purposes but look out for more on the GreatDrams Instagram account throughout December.

The box itself has gorgeous smile-raising graphics, as they note above, and looks like a piece of art in its own right.
