TASTING NOTES

NOSE

Plum and dark fruit immediately, with a sweetness closer to sugarcane than obvious sherry richness. A faint nuttiness develops with air. Delicate for something so fruity.

PALATE

Oily and textured. The plum deepens into darker fruit alongside that distinctive sugarcane sweetness. Gentle spice sits quietly behind everything else. Precise rather than powerful.

FINISH

Smooth and long. The oiliness carries the flavour further than the age suggests. Plum fades last, with dry spice holding the very end.

THE RIGHT BOTTLE IF…

You love sherried single malts but you’re tired of the obvious choices. Teaninich at 8 years in Oloroso is not the obvious choice. That’s exactly why it’s here

You want something genuinely limited. 190 bottles globally leaves little time for deliberation

WHY THIS CASK

Teaninich is a Diageo distillery that almost never appears as a named single malt. It’s been producing since 1817 and its output disappears almost entirely into blends. The previous release we did here was well received, which put us on alert for the right follow-up cask. This Oloroso expression arrived with exactly the profile the label describes: plum, sweet sugarcane, delicate, oily. Those four things together at 8 years old are not easy to find. We moved quickly. 190 bottles is the entire output.

THE CASE FOR THIS BOTTLE

Greg & Kirsty’s argument for why this cask earned its place in the range.

POINT 1

Oloroso at 8 years produces dark fruit influence without the weight of older sherry expressions. Sherry in its most precise form. That balance at this age is the achievement.

POINT 2

190 bottles. When the cask is empty, this does not exist. No reorder, no follow-on batch.

YOUR FIRST POUR

Neat, five minutes in the glass. The oily texture and delicate fruit need a little air. Don’t rush this one

A single drop of water opens the sugarcane note considerably. Try both. The difference is noticeable
